The Statistics

Image
In this blog I am going to tell about the statics of the two brands. In the 2021-22 season of the NHL 70.3% of the players were wearing Bauer skates, and 19.8% of them used CCM. The remaining 1% of players wore true custom skates.  I will break down each skate and what percent used them in that season. For Bauer in 2021-22 39.7 percent of players used Vapor, 28.7 percent used supreme, and 2 percent used nexus.  In 2021-22 Jetspeed was the most used CCM skate. Players used 9.4 percent Jetspeed, 6.2 percent used Tacks, and 4.2 used Ribcore.  All of this information is based on statistics. If your going to buy a pair of skates, I would suggest to go to the local store and try on each brand and style, then find which one is the best fit and most comfortable for you personally.  https://goingbardown.com/

Skate Equivalents

In this post I will be telling about which Bauer skates are equivalent to CCM and vice versa. Just like shoes, hockey skates come in different forms, fits, and widths to make sure the skate is your best fit.  If you have a narrow and skinny foot, Bauer Vapors would be the best fit for you and the equivalent skate in CCM would be the Jetspeed. This skate is narrow and has a very flat sole of the skate which locks your foot in place and gives you power.  If you have a medium width foot or a big heel, Bauer Supreme would work best with your foot as well as Tacks for the CCM side. These skates have a wider base boot but are also not to wide. There is a heel pocket in these skates which drops your heal back giving your foot more room. I use Bauer Supreme skates and don't think I'll ever switch.  If you have a wide foot, Bauer Nexus would be the skate for you and CCM Ribcore is also a wide skate. These skates are not as comfortable as the other ones but will give you enou...

Brand Revenue

Image
This post I will be showing which company made more money in the year 2022. Each brand makes sticks, skates, protective gear (elbow pads, shin pads, shoulder pads, and helmets), as well as apparel.  In the year 2022, CCM revenue was set at 1.5 million dollars. While in the same year Bauer's revenue was a lot greater than CCM at 500 million dollars.  Both companies make the same equipment and you can tell by sales and revenue which one appears to be the most popular. https://www.zippia.com/

What do the Professionals use?

Image
On this post I am going to show two professional hockey players that use each brand and tell about them and their stats.  Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leaf's is one of my favorite players in the NHL. He is an elite goal scorer and has won many awards including the Rocket Richard trophy twice which is the most goals in the NHL award, the Calder trophy which is rookie of the years, the heart memorial trophy which is the league MVP, and the Ted Lindsay award which is the best player in the regular season. Auston uses the CCM brand.  https://www.nhl.com/player/auston-matthews-8479318 Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils is also one of my favorite players. He's a very crafty, shifty, and smart player in the NHL. He has yet to win any awards but is only 22 years old and ended this season with 99 points in 78 games. A lot of people are saying Jack Hughes will be one of the top 5 players in the NHL within a couple years because of how well he plays. Jack wears the Bauer ...

Skates

Image
This post I am going to compare two types of hockey skates. The Bauer Skates I am doing are called the Bauer Mach's and the CCM skates are called the Tacks.  I used CCM Tacks skates and I had to switch back to Bauer because the Tacks felt really wide and my foot felt loose in them. This season I used the Mach skates and I have nothing but good things to say about them. They were very easy to break in and very comfortable. New skates have a tendency to be very stiff and hurt your feet, but with the Mach's that wasn't the case for me.  Bauer Mach Skates  CCM Tacks

Bauer vs. CCM - On the Ice

The general argument made by GetHockeyAdvice.com (https://gethockeyadvice.com/ccm-vs-bauer/)in their work CCM vs Bauer is that Bauer skates are more reliable than CCM. More specifically GetHockeyAdvice.com argues that Bauer makes a better skate than CCM does. They write, " I have a winner in the CCM vs Bauer skates battle. This article suggests that you should buy Bauer skates if you can. Their belief is that Bauer is better.  In my opinion GetHockeyAdvice.com is right because I have wore both types of skates and always find myself going back and wearing Bauer skates. I like the fit and the feel of the Bauer skate better. It feels like my foot just slips right in like a shoe. They feel lighter and easier to skate. Sometimes the CCM skates don't feel as comfortable. They feel heavier and not as smooth skating. Therefore I conclude that Bauer is better.
